We lost power due to the ice storm on December 11th. We've been living with my Mom since the 12th. We finally got power back late on the 23rd. We planned on moving back in Christmas night. We stopped by the house to drop things off Christmas morning before we went to my aunt's for Chritmas dinner. When we got to our house we noticed that some of our pipes were leaking. Our plumbing pipes (sinks and shower) are fine but we have forced hot water heat and the heating pipes run on outside walls and they froze. There is water leaking from them in just about every room.
It was Christmas so we couldn't get a plumber to come out until Friday at 11 am. At 4 pm he finally shows up and the company our landlord called doesn't do heating. Saturday our landlord called the oil company and made an appointment for them to come out Monday at 11 am. Mike left work early and sat at the house all day. They said they were running late, but when 4 pm came around and he hadn't heard anything he called. They said they had tried to call to let him know they wouldn't be making it over until Tuesday at 2 pm. They finally came by at 3:30 and looked things over. They came back Wednesday and got everything fixed in the basement and 1st floor. They were supposed to come back today and finish the 2nd floor but were too busy so hopefully they'll come by Monday.
We came home last night. It is so nice to be home...and at the same time kind of weird. We've been gone so long it almost feels like someone else's home.
As frustrating as it was to not be home, it was nice to be at my Mom's. Abby was spoiled rotten by her Avo` (grandmother), Tios and Tias (uncles & aunts). I definatly enjoyed the extra help with Abby and speding time with my family.
Here are some pictures of Abby hanging out with her Tio Sam and Tia Rebeca.
